About Me

Hi, I’m Anjana Balyan!
With roots in Uttar Pradesh and Kerala and a childhood in Chennai, I’ve always felt a deep sense of belonging to many parts of India. After schooling, I studied Information Arts and Information Design Practices at Srishti, where I spent four years designing for diverse user groups. After that, I joined the Teach For India Fellowship, teaching Math and Science to ninth and tenth graders in a government school in Bangalore.
My students came from one of the most underserved communities in the city, yet our classroom was always
filled with joy and curiosity.
I love blending design and education to create meaningful experiences for children in India. If you’re interested in collaborating or chatting about design, education, or the intersection of the two—let’s connect!

Before creating this website for myself, i sat down to chart out my journey so far. Every pathway I’ve encountered and grown to love has shaped and contributed to my body of work. One of my favorite creative exercises is squinting at arbitrary lines to find meaning in them. One clear-skied night in Bangalore, as I looked at my pathway map, I saw it—an animal taking shape. This animal is an embodiment of my work. This animal is an extension of me.
